International PhD Studies - THE PROGRAM IS CLOSED
One Ph.D. studentship are available in International PhD studies program: Molecular Genetics, Transcriptomics and Bioinformatics in Cancerâ funded by the Foundation for Polish Science/EU Regional Development Fund. The project will provide interdisciplinary postgraduate training focusing on application of recent high throughput technologies and an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to study the molecular genetic and genomic processes central to cancer development. The project "Circulating tumor cells as prognostic and predictive factor in planning treatment of breast cancer - validation trial" will be carried out in Medical University of Warsaw, Department of Internal Medicine, Hypertension and Vascular Diseases, Warsaw). A student will be working in collaborating laboratory with Dr. Piotr Religa for 6-12 months at the Karolinska Institute. Host institutes offer excellent working facilities with interactive groups and a competitive student stipend salary (c.a. 1000 Euro/month, during placement abroad 1500 Euro/month).Applications are to be made via email with a deadline November 20, 2011. Selected candidates will be invited for interview and selection procedure will be concluded November 25, 2011. The student appointment will start December 1, 2011.

International PhD Studies in Molecular Genomics,Transcriptomics and Bioinformatics in Cancer
- A new international PhD program - supported by the Polish Foundation of Science - is offered by the Postgraduate School of Molecular Medicine, Medical University of Warsaw. The project will provide interdisciplinary postgraduate training focusing on application of recent high throughput technologies and an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to study the molecular genetic and genomic processes central to cancer development. In the project transcriptomics/genomics data generated by analyses of follicular thyroid cancers, soft tissue sarcoma, melanoma, glioma, lung and breast cancers will be evaluated by dedicated bioinformatic methods in order to find characteristic gene signatures and/or novel predictive markers. In some systems transcriptomics and genome-wide data combined with sophisticated computational and system biology methods will be exploit to specify molecular pathways involved in carcinogenesis. Projects will be carried out in laboratories located: in Warsaw (Warsaw Medical University, Cancer Center-Institute of Oncology, Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling, Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology), in Szczecin (International Hereditary Cancer Centre, Pomeranian Medical University), in Gliwice (Cancer Center-Institute of Oncology-Gliwice Branch). All teams have developed successful scientific cooperation in the proposed field of research (students will be working in collaborating laboratories for 6-12 months)
- Students from all countries are invited to apply
- A fellowship of 3000 PLN/month (tax-free) + 500 PLN/month (insurance) is offered.
