General Information
The Postgraduate School of Molecular Medicine (SMM) is an organization for research and teaching, open and in the form of a network, encompassing all of Poland, created in 1997 on the basis of a multilateral agreement - the Understanding on Creating the SMM. This organization was created by professors from several medical universities and scientific institutes involved in molecular medicine. The aim was to create an institution for supporting young active physicians and biologists, interested in the development of molecular medicine in Poland and in its introduction into clinical practice.

The Postgraduate School of Molecular Medicine (SMM) is an organization for research and teaching, open and in the form of a network, encompassing all of Poland, created in 1997 on the basis of a multilateral agreement - the Understanding on Creating the SMM. This organization was created by professors from several medical universities and scientific institutes involved in molecular medicine. The aim was to create an institution for supporting young active physicians and biologists, interested in the development of molecular medicine in Poland and in its introduction into clinical practice.

SMM has also signed agreements about scientific and teaching collaboration with:
• Paris VI - Pierre and Marie Curie University (1998) and
• Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC), Berlin Buch (2003).
According to the statute and as decided by the Scientific and Programme Council, SMM is administered by the Medical University in Warszawa.
SMM activity is run by the management composed of five persons: the Director, the deputy director, the chairman and deputy chairman of the Scientific and Programme Council and the secretary.
The Scientific and Programme Council controls the SMM programme and activities, its members are representatives of the signatories of the Understanding on Creating SMM and representatives of foreign institutions linked to SMM by agreements on scientific and teaching collaboration, eminent specialists in the fields of molecular biology, molecular and clinical genetics and molecular medicine. SMM collaborates with other medical universities and scientific institutions in Poland and abroad.
